Transparencies
Advantages:
- Teacher can display a copy of the actual sheet, picture, assignment, etc,
- Inexpensive
- Easy to produce
- Allows for many students to see
- Can be written on with a marker and easily erased
- Pre-made can be in color
Disadvantages:
- Must have an overhead projector
- To make an transparency of a hard copy you must have a copier and the correct transparency film to run through the copier
- Copyright issues
- Takes time to make the copies
- When copies are made they are usually not in color due to the lack of a color copier
Implications for Collection Development
To use the transparencies, whether pre-made or teacher made, the appropriate equipment must be available.
Copyright Considerations
Pre-made transparencies will most likely be copyrighted. Before making a copy for something from a book or workbook make sure that it is not copyrighted.
