Subject area: Social Studies
Unit Topic: Continents
Collection map: print resources, encyclopedias, atlas, globe
Information Literacy Model: Big6 model will be used because it allows students organize and evaluate information by a process.
Technology Infusion: Students will create a blog to explain their research information and how this information will be benefical while completing their research.
Technology Used: LCD projectior and screen, computers with internet access
Success of Unit and Lesson: Students will be assessed through Research logs, gathering information using the fact sheet, becoming experts on their continent, self-check rubric, and working cooperatively in groups. After completing and evaluating the lesson the media specialist will reflect on lessons to see if standards and objectives are met.
Teacher Collaboration: The media specialist will collaborate with all second grade teachers. The media specialist will ask classroom teachers for ideas used in the past that were successful. The media specialist will also ask for ideas that will make the lesson more effective.

I would present my lesson to teachers during their grade level meeting. I would discuss with them why it is important for students to know about the continents. I would provide a copy of my lesson plans and activities to teachers. After teachers view lesson plans and activities I would then ask for suggestions. After we review lesson plan and make suggestions we will discuss ways to implement the lesson.
