Public Library Association (PLA)

American Library Association (ALA)
The object of the American Library Association shall be to promote library service and librarianship. The stated mission is, "To provide leadership for the development, promotion and improvement of library and information services and the profession of librarianship in order to enhance learning and ensure access to information for all."
Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA)
The mission of the Young Adult Library Services Association is to advocate, promote and strengthen service to young adults as part of the continuum of total library service, and to support those who provide service to this population.
Technology (AECT)
The mission of the AECT is to provide leadership in educational communications and technology by linking professionals holding a common interest in the use of technology and its application to the learning process.
American Association of School Librarians (AASL) A division of the American Library Association which is interested in the general improvement and extension of library/media services for children and young people in elementary and secondary schools as a means of strengthening the educational program.
Southeastern Library Association
The Southeastern Library Association is a unifying force strong enough to influence legislation and to attract foundation and federal funds for regional library projects.
ALICE - Adventist Library Information Cooperative
The purpose of this organization is to negotiate contracts with electronic information vendors that will allow the member libraries to extend access to electronic information resources to their respective clienteles in their library buildings, across their campuses and to their extension students in the most cost-effective way possible. It is the intent of the organization in the furture to extend services both to other levels of Adventist education as well as to institutions around the world
Association of College & Research Libraries
The Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL), a division of the American Library Association, is a professional association of academic librarians and other interested individuals. It is dedicated to enhancing the ability of academic library and information professionals to serve the information needs of the higher education community and to improve learning, teaching, and research.
Library & Information Technology Association (LITA)
The Library and Information Technology Association is the leading organization reaching out across types of libraries to provide education and services for a broad membership. The membership includes new professionals, systems librarians, library administrators, library schools, vendors and anyone else interested in leading edge technology and applications for librarians and information providers.
