Library Media Specialist
Qualifications:
Master's degree in library science
Successful experience in teaching desirable

Responsibilities:
· Assist with building curriculum development by participating in team planning and teaching, serving as a classroom resource person and providing instructional materials support.
· Promote and assist staff and students in the use of a variety of resources.
· Assist with student and staff production projects.
· Promote and support the appropriate use of technology by students and teachers
· Provide reading guidance and encourage reading for both enjoyment and information.
· Help student become independent users of information.
· Provide inservice to teachers on emerging technologies.
· Consult with parents on services of the library.
· Design and implement a building library program, consistent with building and district goals.
· Communicate library program goals clearly to building principal and staff.
· Administer the building media budget.
· Provide flexible and convenient access to the library.
· Select materials (print and non-print) so that the collection is responsive to the needs of the students and teachers.
· Insure that equipment is maintained and repaired as needed.
· Establish a public relations program to inform the school of library program activities.
· Encourage use of the library and its equipment and materials by students and teachers.
· Establish a friendly, productive atmosphere in the library

Aide in day to day operation of media center
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Shelf straightening
- Maintaining work area minor cleaning of library materials
- Read with students
- Collating and stapling printed materials - affixing labels as needed
- Performs basic and other routine tasks as assigned within skill level
SKILLS / ABILITIES / QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Ability to speak and understand English and to convey a positive, friendly attitude
- Ability to work congenially with staff, patrons and other volunteers
- Ability to provide dependable transportation so as to be punctual, and the ability to be
contacted by telephone for scheduling, changes and meetings
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instruction

Description
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in book and periodical circulation
Input and file patron records
File microfiche, current and back-issue periodicals
Shelve new and incoming books
Read shelves to maintain classification order
Assist patrons in use of library and computer databases
Inform patrons of library policies, and assist in enforcement
Help with general library maintenance
Assist with special projects as they arise
Help with Media Center coordination activities – delivery of equipment to classrooms; taping of satellite telecourses; video and audio tape copying; cleaning and inventory of equipment
Minimum Qualifications Required
Respect for Library users, and good customer service skills
Ability to communicate well with coworkers and library patrons
Basic knowledge of how library materials are organized and accessed
Basic computer skills and/or familiarity with library databases
Good work ethic/reliable
