Ensuring Accessibility for All Patrons with
Automation Systems
Intellectual access is typically divided into metadata and data. Metadate is the actual material that is included and data is the information inside the materials. Physical access is having the ability to use an OPAC inside the school as well as out and getting your hands on the material. Organizational access is putting all of the needed information in a decided order so it can be accessed easily.

| Organizing and cataloging materials in the basis for intellectual access according to LC21. One of the most greuling tasks for the librarian in converting from physical to digital will be giving some sort of order to the resources available and making them easy to find for patrons and easy to manage for themselves. |
Having physical access to materials in the library is the ability to locate and pull out materials and resources needed. Getting to those materials is done through the use of an OPAC which may or may not be online. |
According to the ILSR, data entry standards need to be established and enforced. This job requires constant monitoring for removal of old material, inserting new materials and familiarity with changing terminology. This will ensure the success and usefulness of the databases for all patrons. |
