Page history last edited by Jessica Quinn 2 years, 10 months ago

CD-ROMs are great for students of all ages to have access to.  They are vital for a learning program.  They can be used for educational games in all subjects including math, reading, phonics, social studies, and science.  The children seem to really enjoy the games and get competetive with them.  They can also be used for maps and encyclopedias or other sorts of information.

  • Holds 650 megabytes of information
  • Appealing to students

Disadvantages

  • Can be scratched and destroyed
  • Easy to forget you have access to it

  • Must turn on computer and CD-ROM player

Collection Development

  • CD-ROMs are highly used by K-12 teachers and students.  They can be used on a library computer or a class computer.  They only take a couple of minutes to download and then they are ready to use.  They are a great learning and reinforcement tool.  One must establish time limits and the number of printouts to be made.
