Ian Jukes has been a teacher, an administrator, writer, consultant, university instructor and keynote speaker.

 

II.           Definition

Ian Jukes focuses on the 5 As of information processing.  The purpose is to have students become more infosavvy.

III.           Components

§  Asking - key questions to be answered

§  Accessing - relevant information

§  Analyzing - the acquired information

§  Applying - the information to a task

§  Assessing - the end result and the process

IV.          Advantages and Disadvantages

Advantages:

·         Understands the problem to be solved

·         Teaches brainstorming

·         Teaches you to be Infosavvy

·         Helps you discover the important information in an article

·         Helps you with taking  beneficial notes

·         Can be used by all ages

    Disadvantages:

           None found

V.           Implications for the library media center

This model can assist students in the media center while preparing for research papers, or just understanding and applying everyday situation.
